Gateway Adventure can deliver a wide variety of activities, whether they are land or water based. These can range from walking to climbing, kayaking to raft building or archery to bushcraft as well as many other associated outdoor skills. Whatever activity you choose to take part in you’ll have chance to develop your personal skills and gain confidence in your abilities enabling you to venture out with friends or family or even on your own.
Mountain Training Lowland Leader TrainingThis nationally recognised qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. Most of the UK is made up of this type of terrain, so you'll never be short of places to go walking. A further
Mountain Training Camping Leader qualification is available for those who wish to lead and supervise overnight camping. This award also covers remote supervision and teaching navigation. So, if you fancy it, why don’t you come and spend two days with our highly knowledgeable instructors who will be on hand to guide you from your training, all the way through to your, hopefully, successful assessment.
The Mountain Training Lowland Leader course syllabus is laid down by Mountain Training and will cover the following topics:

At Gateway Adventure, we try to accommodate as many people as we can and are aware that individual lifestyles and circumstances can vary a great deal. Therefore, we offer accommodation to all attendees. Thus, giving individuals the opportunity of accommodation the night before, during and even after their course. All you need to do is let us know at the booking stage and we will add the relevant accommodation fees onto your course fee.

RegistrationParticipants must be at least 17 years old and have an interest inleading groups in lowland countryside. You must be registered onto the Mountain Training Lowland Leader scheme which is currently
£49.00. You must have recorded a minimum of 10 varied walks in Lowland terrain where the use of a map is required (ideally these will be recorded on DLOG) which can have taken place at any point (pre- or post-registration)
Minimum Course DurationParticipants must have a minimum of
16 hours of course contact time which is delivered in a 2-day programme.
(This course can also be delivered in two x 1-day events delivered within a three-month period)

Course BookingsPlease note, Mountain Training stipulates that all bookings for any Mountain Training Courses must be completed with names entered onto the course list, at least 5 days prior to the course commencement. Bookings under 5 days are not allowed to be placed!
Mountain Training requirements also state that courses that do not reach the minimum booking will either be refunded or rebooked for an alternative date.
